Love My Job….Not
With un-employment being at its highest rate in decades you might think those that are gainfully employed would have no complains, however that is just not true. Even in hard times there is job dissatisfaction. It really doesn't matter if you are working for a friend, family or a major corporation. There are few rules of the road that say there are something’s you avoid or never say in the workplace.

It was Just A Joke
In better times you might have sat around the table in the lunch room cafeteria at work and expressed all matter of feelings about the job, workplace and leadership as a joke more than anything else. It was expressed meaning no harm, just idle conversations; you jokingly might have said things like that is not my job or my problem! Sometimes the test is that if the shoe was on the other foot would you be laughing. Not a good idea!
Express as a Positive Suggestion
While it is never a good idea to disrespect those who employ you. However, there are things you feel could be improved or changed to improve job satisfaction, it's maybe how you express that can make the difference. When employees express things like I hate my job and all the reasons why, it usually reflects on the boss, company and co-workers in a negative way. So you didn’t express it that strongly…you didn’t say you hate your job you just said something like I’m so over qualified for this job, anyone could do it. You probably can guess the boss’s reaction to a comment like this is not going to be received very well. So just don’t say it.
Your Best Is All You Can Do
There are tasks that need to get done in almost every workplace that are not written in your job description however your boss is looking for those employees that will do what they are asked to do or needs to be done. This is not to say you over-commit or accept an assignment without letting your boss know, that possibly you will need additional resources or support to make it happen. Also if you know it to be a bad or unsafe idea you should express it as such. Then old adage of if you don’t have anything good to say just don’t say anything at all may apply.
There is a Time and a Place.
Some things are better left unsaid when it comes to your job and your employer. In these hard economic times expressing how you feel about your job, workplace, boss or company aloud at work could be career limiting. This is not to say you don’t express how you feel but there is a time and place for everything, and at work, employee happy hour or a company function probably isn’t that place. While many can count their true friends on one hand this is where a good friend someone you can trust and depend on can really help to keep a situation like this in perspective.
